Community development in Mbekweni, Paarl

MOT presenters in the community of Mbekweni, Paarl (shown above) are actively participating in the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Project. The NYDA project, in cooperation with Expanded Public Works Programme and MOT South Africa, is aimed at assisting youth acquiring technical skills while volunteering their services for the development of their communities.

The MOT presenters are implementing the MOT Programme at the Mbekweni Youth Centre (MYC) and at Desmond Tutu Senior Secondary School, IHlumelo High School and Groenewald Primary School in Mbekweni, in cooperation with the staff at these institutions.

Apart from the training that the MOT presenters have received to facilitate the MOT programme with the youth, they will also receive Small Business/Entrepreneurial Training by the Small Enterprise Development Agency at the MYC from 2 to 6 November 2015. Five of the MOT presenters in Mbekweni have already found full-time employment since they have started with the NYDA project.
