Seven and a half months is what Legends of Kungfu World Martial Arts Champion, M.J.Li has in order to successfully take the 2nd Youth Kungfu Squad from South Africa to Hong Kong in March 2019 for an International Tournament there ☺ He believes it can and will be done!!
In 2017 he embarked on a Schools Tour across The Province, did 55 schools, and mentored / coached 16 Kungfu Athletes and led them to The International Kungfu Tournament in Kowloon, Hong Kong in March 2018 where they won 8 medals, in the process became the first S.A. Youth Kungfu Development Squad to go to Hong Kong and to come back victorious. M.J.Li himself holds the distinction of being a Three Times Gold Medalist, despite coming from humble beginnings growing up on The Cape Flats in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain. Conditions did not deter him, as he believes Kungfu can be used as a vehicle in Youth Development, thus providing our youth with a disciplined, holistic approach to anti social behavior.
Ten athletes have already been drafted into the 2019 Squad and have been in training since late month July. His next quest is a renewed Schools Tour in search of Kungfu talent with the intention of adding at least 10 new athletes to 2019 Squad. The process entails M.J.Li visiting schools, doing short motivational talks and then setting up immediate Kungfu Training Camps/Trials across TheProvince. Suitable students with the aptitude and potential, will then be drafted into the Squad and will undergo intense training of 7 months.
This will provide our youth with a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Hong Kong and compete alongside 9 000 athletes from over 38 countries.
This renewed Schools Tour across The Province is open to all, Learners, Students and Schools.
