MOT South Africa is proud to announce the successful launch of its partnership with the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Resource Centre (PBIRC) in Wynberg. This collaboration, focused on the Positive Behaviour Programme as part of the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) initiative, aims to empower youth within our community.
The MOT life-skills programme will be implemented across ten schools in the Metro Central District, including: Mount View Secondary School, Silverstream Secondary School, Easter Peak Primary School, Rylands High School, Bonteheuwel High School, Ned Doman High School, Spes Bona High School, Rhodes High School, Saltriver Secondary School, Vista High School.
Thus far, the ten schools have already undergone training, including a three-day workshop—MOT Coaches’ Basic Education—designed to equip educators with the necessary skills to run MOT sessions within their schools. The training covered MOT’s philosophy, interactive teaching methods, and hands-on facilitation techniques, ensuring that educators are well-prepared to implement MOT sessions within their schools.
The launch brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including community businesses, SAPS, educators, WCED officials, parents, and media representatives. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the MOT programme, its benefits, and how it is being implemented in participating schools.
Viola Manuel, Country Director at MOT South Africa, expressed her excitement about the initiative:
“MOT is about building a culture of courage, care, and resilience among young people. Our collaboration with PBIRC aims to create long-term positive impacts in these schools, shaping the next generation of leaders who will uplift their communities.”
Mr. Neville Goliath, Positive Behaviour Programme at WCED, also shared his support for the programme: “Building bridges with acts of kindness and respect ensures relationships that stand the test of time. With MOT SA, every connection becomes a valued partnership.“
Following the launch, MOT South Africa will continue to support educators and students in these schools through training, mentorship, and monitoring to ensure the programme’s success. The partnership aims to provide sustainable, long-term benefits for young people in the Metro Central District.
