Chairperson of MOT South Africa Board
Professor Eltie Links was appointed Chairperson to the Board of MOT South Africa on 21 May 2008.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of South Africa, Master of Commerce (Economics) from the University of the Western Cape, Master of Arts (Economics) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Economics) from the University of New York, Binghamton.
For the last seven years he has been teaching courses in International Business and Doing Business in Africa, at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB).
Previously, Professor Links served as the South African Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg as well as the Permanent Representative of South Africa at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, Washington, DC. In 1996, the then President Nelson Mandela appointed him to the strategic position of Ambassador to the European Union. Since retiring from public service, he continues to play a role in the trade and economic arena, especially at the academic institutions. He is also very involved in the community projects and programmes of both National and Provincial government. He also serves as Trustee on a number of well recognised Trusts, amongst others, Woordeboek vir die Afrikaanse Taal Trust, the H B Thom Trust, the Sir Abe Baily Trust and the Pioneer Foods Development Trust and for the last three years, Professor Links has been serving on the President’s Council for Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment.
