When one speaks of a phenomenon it is often described as a “remarkable” person or thing whom/that brings a great sense of wonder and awe to those marvelling in them/it. A phenomenon is extraordinary, it stands out for its rarity and exceptionality.

Hlonela Mrwetyana is a living phenomenon!
The 12 year old sensation was introduced to the  arts and entertainment industry through dance [ballet] at the very young age of 2, where she was able to nurture and grow her talent and ultimately transfer it to newfound hidden talents, passions and skills; namely acting, singing, musical instruments, TV hosting, modelling, pageants and entrepreneurship.

Hlonela’s breakthrough debut was her starring lead role in a school production “Unstoppable” at the East London Guild Theatre at the age of 7. In 2018 she competed in a number of national dance competitions in Johannesburg and Durban where she consistently ranked 1st or in the top 3.

It was quickly after joining the ‘Just Models‘ Talent Agency that she took to pageants and modelling where she was crowned 1st Princess for ‘Face of Miss Teen SA’ and the Junior Top Model for ‘PnAUltimate Performer’. In the same breath she got to do some work at Universal Studios in Los Angeles through the New York Film Academy where she attained her acting certificate among a number of accolades (from Barbizon of Hollywood LA too). She’s since then featured in a Twinsaver ad campaign, been crowned Preteen Miss Eastern Cape 2021/22 among a variety of titles and featured in an upcoming short film, ‘The Gardener’.

But wait... there’s more!

In the midst of launching her very own company, ‘Minnie Stars’, which she is the CEO & founder of - she’s already had the kids, tweens and teens magazine division up and running, which published its first issue in September 2021 in celebration of her 12th birthday. Mrwetyana has also just been announced to be a Preteen Miss Universe Finalist, which she has been training rigorously for, and to put the cherry on top Hlonela Mrwetyana has been invited to walk for U.S fashion line ‘CHICK’at the prestigious New York Fashion Week in February 2022, all the while she was onset in Cape Town shooting the Kid’s Kitchen Relay show that she is the host of for Honey TV.

Her involvement in giving back to the community is not one to be taken lightly either, as she works closely with Nompumelelo in East London by always donating clothes, volunteering and spending time at a local centre for children and teenagers living with disabilities as this is a cause close to her heart, as she someday wishes to gain her medical doctorate while dabbling in the arts and entertainment industry still.
