Cheslyn’s Chat: Strengthening your Freedom to be

Since its Freedom month, I’d like to pay tribute to those who fought for our freedom, let’s honour them by strengthening our freedom to be. Here’s to Freedom!

What does it mean to really be yourself? Being yourself sets you free and floods you with joy and happiness allowing you to be the best you, you can ever be!

What does it mean to be free and have freedom? The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants, and be who you are.

Now, having a look at these two statements, you are now wondering how do I strengthen my freedom, in being myself in society?  I believe that being true to yourself is in every human being, being it youth or in your adolescence.

MOT’s mission is to create robust youth who includes all. If we have a look at what robustness means, it shows us that we are strong, healthy and vigorous. However, I would like to add one more word to that definition, FREEDOM! Let’s forget about the political meaning of freedom and have a look at it with an open and transparent mind.

Freedom can mean many things; however, I want to focus on Freedom to be yourself. As youth in society we tend to forget to be free because we have certain values, morals and beliefs and in order for us to oblige by those beliefs we tend to forget to be free, in the end, certain things can deprive us of being who we really want to be because we are afraid of what others might think of us. So, for you to pursue this right, I want you to do some introspection and think, Am I robust? How can I be robust? Am I comfortable just being myself?

I would like to hear from our readers and viewers. Give me your definition of what it means to have Freedom to be you.
