MOT Value-Based Corporate Training: Aqunion Graduation Celebration
From October to December 2024, Aqunion’s staff ventured on an inspiring journey through MOT’s Value-Based Corporate Training. The programme, designed to build resilience, create and strengthen positive team cultures, and uphold MOT’s core values, concluded with a heartfelt graduation ceremony.
A Day of Celebration
The graduation day was a proud moment for the Aqunion team. Viola Manuel, MOT SA Country Director, shared an empowering message with the graduates:
“You have all been given the tools. It’s whether or not you have the wisdom to apply them. Even if you’re the only person on your next shift showing the Courage to Care, Live, or Say No—do it. Your behaviour will inspire others. That’s how you change workplace culture.”
Robin Banks, MOT SA Ambassador, also congratulated the graduates. He encouraged them to make the lessons they learned a part of their daily lives, saying:
“Don’t forget the tools you’ve gained. Use them to live a life of Courage and inspire others around you.”
Participants Share Their Experiences
During the ceremony, graduates shared how the training challenged and transformed them.
“I didn’t like MOT at first because it pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, which I wasn’t used to. But now, we’ve all started greeting our colleagues and building a culture of acknowledgment.”
“Thank you, MOT, for helping the team see areas where we could improve our relationships and grow together.”
“It was a pleasure getting to know the team and the people of the groups I was in during the training. I had fun and created real relationships with them.”
“I learned how to treat my team with care and respect.”
“Thank you to Aqunion for bringing MOT to us, and thank you to MOT for giving us this experience and sharing your knowledge.”
“It wasn’t just fun and games—I learned so much about myself and my team.”
Courage to Care Challenge
Upon completing the Value-Based Training, graduates were encouraged to demonstrate the Courage to Care through a dedicated challenge. One group committed to collecting and donating sanitary pads to a local school, while another pledged to extend acts of kindness to those in need.
Awards and Recognition
All participants proudly received certificates of completion, serving as a lasting reminder of their dedication and achievement. These certificates symbolize the hard work and commitment they invested in the program, leaving them feeling proud of their journey.
Additionally, an outstanding participant, Nolufefe Sibali, received an award for her exceptional contributions during the programme. She was praised as a changemaker and influencer, consistently embodying MOT’s values both before and during the training.
How MOT South Africa Was Chosen for Aqunion’s Team Development
The MOT Value-Based Corporate Training at Aqunion started after the staff requested for a programme to help them build better relationships, create a more inclusive culture, and improve teamwork. Mrs Michelle Kruger, as part of the Aqunion Management Team, explained that the staff wanted to grow and improve, so they looked for a programme that could help with these goals.
Preston Saayman, a MOT Youth Alumni and Young MOTivator, and currently an intern at Aqunion recommended MOT South Africa. He shared how MOT had made a big positive difference in his life by helping him build resilience, leadership skills, and a positive mindset. Preston believed that MOT could bring the same positive change to the Aqunion team.
Michelle thanked Preston for recommending MOT, saying: “We are happy to have courageous employees, and we’re excited to see how we can grow as a group. This training has helped us all understand each other better, and now we have the tools to strengthen our relationships.”
She also thanked the management team for supporting and funding the programme and expressed her appreciation to the MOT family for guiding the team throughout the training.
A Heartfelt Farewell
Brent Du Toit, a key member of the MOT team, applauded the participants for stepping out of their comfort zones and digging deep to make meaningful changes:
“I applaud you. It wasn’t only fun and games—you were courageous and made real efforts to grow.”
The graduation ended on a high note with the MOT song and the South African National Anthem, leaving participants MOTivated to turn the MOT values into a way of life.
Looking Ahead
The MOT Value-Based Corporate Training has left a lasting impact on Aqunion’s staff. By embracing the Courage to Care, the Courage to Live, and the Courage to Say No, they are now equipped to inspire change and strengthen their workplace culture. The MOT journey at Aqunion is a testament to the power of resilience and teamwork in building a better society.
