This month MOT South Africa hosted the Principals’ Best Practice Follow-up Session at the College of Cape Town, Crawford Campus. The session brought together ten schools currently participating in this collaborative project—a partnership between MOT South Africa and the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Resource Centre (PBIRC), supported by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED). These schools are actively implementing the MOT Programme, engaging both educators and MOT Youth. The day focused on reflection, learning, and strengthening the connection between youth and educators through the MOT approach.

MOT Coaches Share Their Journey

The programme included an overview of MOT implementation across WCED schools, followed by powerful reflections from MOT Coaches. These dedicated educators shared their experiences of working with the programme, highlighting how it is impacting school culture, teacher collaboration, and their own relationships with learners.

Youth Voices: The Impact of MOT

Learners who are part of the MOT Programme were given a platform to speak about how MOT has impacted their lives. Their stories offered real and emotional insight into the positive changes they’ve experienced—from increased self-confidence and resilience to stronger peer relationships and a deeper sense of purpose.

Researcher Engagement: Measuring Impact

A special session was led by our researcher, Dr Puni, who facilitated a group discussion on the implementation and impact of MOT. The session allowed for open dialogue, with educators providing feedback on how the programme is influencing their schools—strengthening teacher-student relationships, building trust, and creating a more positive school environment overall.

Bridgetown High Joins the MOT Family!

One of our exciting highlights was welcoming Bridgetown High School as our newest MOT school who has joined as part of the ten schools —we’re so excited to have them on board!

We thank all the principals, coaches, learners, and partners for their valuable contributions and ongoing commitment to building stronger schools through courage and connection and are grateful to have the support of WCED as we continue to empower the youth within our communities by promoting positive behaviour, resilience, and self-leadership through the MOT Programme.
