Young MOTivators’ Camp 2026: Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

From 23 – 25 October 2026, MOT South Africa proudly hosted another successful Young MOTivators’ Camp (Youth Leadership Camp), bringing together young leaders from schools across the Western Cape. This three-day leadership experience equipped learners with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to become positive role models and peer leaders within their schools and communities.

From 23 – 25 October 2026, MOT South Africa proudly hosted our first Young MOTivators’ Camp (Youth Leadership Camp), for the year bringing together young leaders from schools across the Western Cape. This three-day leadership experience equipped learners with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to become positive role models and peer leaders within their schools and communities.

The camp was presented in partnership with the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Resource Centre (PBIRC) and supported by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED). Through this collaboration, young people were given a unique opportunity to engage with the MOT programme, develop their leadership potential, and strengthen the values that will guide them throughout their lives.

As part of our project in partnership with PBIRC, this camp brought together learners from Spes Bona High School, Easter Peak Intermediate School, Bonteheuwel High School, and Rylands High School. These young leaders came together to learn, grow, and develop the skills needed to become positive role models in their schools and communities.

Throughout the camp, participants explored what it means to be a leader who leads with courage, integrity, and compassion. They learned that leadership is not defined by a title or position, but by the choices they make every day and the example they set for others.

Through meaningful discussions and personal reflection, learners were encouraged to identify their strengths, embrace their individuality, and recognise the influence they have among their peers. They discovered that true leadership begins with leading oneself before leading others.

Teamwork, Communication, and Connection

A key focus of the camp was developing teamwork and communication skills. Through a variety of interactive activities, challenges, and group discussions, learners experienced the importance of working together towards a common goal.

The young leaders practised:

  • Effective communication and collaboration
  • Active listening and empathy
  • Problem-solving and strategic thinking
  • Encouraging and supporting one another
  • Building trust within a team

These activities challenged learners to step outside their comfort zones, work with new people, and appreciate the value that every individual brings to a group. Along the way, they formed new friendships and strengthened relationships built on mutual respect and encouragement.

One of the most important lessons participants learned was that success is not always measured by finishing first, but by how a team supports one another throughout the journey. Learners were encouraged to remain positive, persevere through challenges, and celebrate each other’s achievements.

Celebrating Our 2026 Young MOTivators

At the conclusion of the camp, participants were recognised as Young MOTivators, having successfully completed their peer leadership training.

These young leaders now carry the responsibility of being ambassadors of the MOT programme within their schools. They are equipped to encourage positive behaviour, support their peers, and help create safe and inclusive environments where young people can thrive.

As trained peer leaders, they will continue to share the values of courage, care, and resilience within their schools and communities while encouraging others to make positive choices and become leaders in their own right.

We are incredibly proud of each learner for their enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to grow throughout the camp experience.

Thank You to PBIRC and WCED

MOT South Africa extends its sincere gratitude to the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Resource Centre (PBIRC) for their valued partnership in making this camp possible. We also thank the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) for their support of the MOT Programme.

Together, we are investing in the next generation of leaders and creating opportunities for young people to discover their potential, build resilience, and make a positive difference in the world around them.

A Bright Future Ahead

As our newly trained Young MOTivators return to their schools and communities, they take with them new skills, meaningful friendships, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The camp may have come to an end, but their leadership journey is only beginning. We have no doubt that these young leaders will continue to embody the MOT values of courage, care, and resilience while inspiring those around them to do the same.

Congratulations to our 2026 Young MOTivators. We look forward to seeing the positive impact you will make in your schools, communities, and beyond. Together, you represent a bright future filled with leadership, hope, and positive change.
