MOT SA Empowers Youth with Successful Career Expo
Empowering the Future Generation: MOT SA’s Career Expo Inspires Youth to Pursue Their Dreams
On 3 August 2023, MOT SA successfully hosted our first-ever Career Expo. The Career Expo was aimed to empower and inspire the Grade 9 learners by providing them with valuable insights into various career paths. The Career Expo is an essential aspect of our Courage to Care Day Campaign which is aligned with MOT’s core value of “Courage to Care,” and encourages individuals to show care and respect to others and themselves, while also including those who may feel left out.
The Career Expo also forms part of our Courage to Care Global project with the Rotary Club of Wynberg which has a direct positive influence on three high schools in Grassy Park: Fairmount, Lotus, and Zeekoevlei Secondary Schools.
One of the sessions, titled “Navigating the Evolving Job Market: Career Insights and Tips for Aspiring Scholars and the Role of Higher Learning Institutions,” was delivered by Achmat Gafieldien from the College of Cape Town. Mr Gafieldien encouraged the learners on the importance of self-value and emphasized the significance of the students’ attentive participation in their educational journey.
Natasha van Staden from Future People
Another crucial topic explored during the Career expo was “The Future Jobs in IT and Careers for the Fifth Industrial Revolution (Five IR),” presented by Natasha van Staaden from Future People. Ms Van Staaden urged the youth to adopt a lifelong learning mindset and emphasized the power of authenticity. She also encouraged them to seize existing opportunities and take charge of shaping their destinies.
Arthur Ketile from False Bay TVET College delivered a session titled “Possibilities of Studying through College as an Alternative to Solely Pursuing Matric and What the World of Work Expects.” Mr Ketile then wished the learners success in their chosen paths and emphasized the importance of continuous learning.
MOT SA’s Career Expo left a lasting impression on the students and equipped them with valuable insights and perspectives to navigate their future career choices. As these young minds embark on their educational and professional journeys, they carry with them the seeds of self-belief, authenticity, and the courage to shape their destinies.
In the spirit of “Courage to Care,” MOT SA continues to serve as a beacon of courage and inspiration, lighting the path for the next generation to confidently pursue their dreams and positively impact the world around them.
