We are proud to share that the Western Cape Provincial Parliament invited MOT South Africa to join hands in creating a Youth Leadership Programme on 7 May. This programme brought together 36 youth from two institutions: the College of Cape Town, Gugulethu Campus and False Bay TVET College, Khayelitsha Campus.

Exploring Democracy and Leadership at the WCPP

The programme kicked off with a tour of the Chamber and engaging discussions on Democracy, the Constitution, and the roles of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP). The youth gained insights into how government functions and the significance of teamwork in achieving common goals.

Preparing for Effective Leadership

A highlight of the day was a session led by the MOT SA team which focused on the topic of Preparing for Effective Leadership. The youth actively participated in the discussions, exploring the core aspects of effective leadership and teamwork dynamics.

The session emphasized the critical role of communication in leadership, highlighting the importance of valuing different perspectives. They learned that being a leader involves listening carefully to different viewpoints, and understanding that while their own opinions may hold weight, they should consider and include all perspectives.

Reflecting on an Inspirational Experience

As the day concluded, participants shared their feelings about the programme. From excitement to happiness and even inspiration, each person expressed how valuable and enjoyable the experience was. It was evident that the session had left a lasting impact on their leadership journey.
