MOT Coaches’ Basic Education for Schools & TVET Colleges – Sixth Training for 2026

WCED MOT PBIRC Training

MOT South Africa is proud to reflect on the successful hosting of our sixth MOT Coaches’ Training for 2026, a combined training that brought together high school and TVET college educators for a truly enriching and collaborative learning experience. This training also included a MOT refresher, strengthening the foundation of existing coaches while welcoming new participants into the MOT family.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Resource Centre (PBIRC) for the valued partnership, and to the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) for their support in making this training possible. Their continued commitment plays a vital role in building resilient educators and creating stronger school and college communities.

Over the course of the training, participants engaged in self-reflection, meaningful dialogue, role play, and practical facilitation techniques, all grounded in MOT’s core principles:

  • Courage to Live
  • Courage to Care
  • Courage to Say No

The feedback from participants captured the heart of the experience. The training was described as:

Exciting, positive, inspiring, invigorating, motivating, reviving, encouraging, fun, and refreshing.

These words reflect more than enjoyment – they speak to renewed purpose. Many educators shared that the training helped them reconnect with why they chose this profession in the first place.

Strengthening School Culture Through MOT

One of the strongest takeaways from the training was the affirmation that when the MOT programme is implemented correctly, schools and colleges experience real transformation.

Educators previously reported that MOT:

  • Reduces disciplinary challenges
  • Supports learners in navigating social and emotional issues
  • Improves relationships between learners and educators
  • Creates safer, more respectful learning environments
  • Changes the daily experience of being an educator

MOT equips educators with tools to build trust, encourage accountability, and foster resilience, helping learners make positive life choices while feeling seen and supported.

Educators as Culture Builders

MOT does more than deliver a programme, it develops culture builders. When educators are given responsibility and understand why MOT matters, they become catalysts for change within their institutions.

Why Become a MOT Coach?

For those inspired to take the next step, becoming a MOT Coach means committing to:

  • Giving culture builders responsibility
  • Understanding the deeper “why” behind behaviour and choices
  • Leading with courage, care, and consistency
  • Supporting learners beyond academics
  • Contributing to long-term, sustainable change in education

MOT Coaches are not disciplinarian, they are role models, facilitators, and agents of positive change.

Looking Ahead

As this sixth training comes to a close, we celebrate the dedication, openness, and passion of every participant. They return to their schools and colleges MOTivated, revived, and equipped to make a difference.

Together, we are changing lives, one courageous conversation at a time.
