MOT SA Welcomes Mandela8 Youth Group from Liverpool

Mandela8

MOT South Africa recently welcomed the Mandela8 Youth Group from Liverpool, United Kingdom, for a morning of courage, learning, and cultural exchange in Cape Town. The visit formed part of the group’s South African tour to learn more about Nelson Mandela’s legacy and engage with local youth making a positive impact in their communities.

The Mandela8 group, made up of seven young people and three leaders, came together with our MOT youth from Gardens Commercial High School, Silverstream School of Skills, and Spes Bona High School. The programme included fun and interactive activities, which encouraged open conversations about leadership, courage, and the shared challenges young people face today.

The session truly reflected MOT’s core values: the Courage to Live, the Courage to Care, and the Courage to Say No, showing how youth from different backgrounds can connect through respect, empathy, and shared purpose.

About Mandela8

Mandela8 is a charitable organization based in Liverpool, UK. The organization was founded to celebrate and preserve the legacy of Nelson Mandela, and to promote cultural understanding, leadership, and social justice. Their vision began with the creation of a permanent artwork and reflection space in Toxteth, Liverpool 8, a heritage site honouring Mandela’s lifelong commitment to equality and humanity.

A Moment to Remember

As the morning came to an end, both the Mandela8 visitors and MOT youth shared heartfelt appreciation for the experience. The Mandela8 team expressed how much they learned from the MOT youth’s openness, confidence, and leadership spirit.

The session was a powerful reminder that no matter where we come from, young people have the courage and compassion to create a warmer and safe society.
