Representative Learner Council (RCL) Value-Based Training Programme

RCL

In April 2026, we were invited to support the delivery of a Representative Learner Council (RCL) programme for 95 learners. The programme is values‑based and guided by the core values and principles of MOT South Africa, with a strong focus on developing confident, responsible future leaders.

Throughout the programme, learners engage with MOT’s core values:

  • Courage to Live
  • Courage to Care
  • Courage to Say No

These values are explored through open conversation, reflection, and real‑life examples. Learners are encouraged to think about who they are, what they stand for, and how their choices affect others. This forms an important foundation for leadership, particularly for those representing their peers.

The programme is further shaped by MOT’s principles of working proactively, giving culture‑builders responsibility, reinforcing the positive, and seeing the whole person. Together, these principles help learners understand that leadership is not about position, but about how you show up, take responsibility, and treat others.

By supporting learners in their role as representatives, the RCL programme helps build skills, confidence, and self‑awareness that extend beyond the classroom. It provides a meaningful opportunity for young people to grow into value‑driven leaders who can contribute positively to their learning communities and to society beyond them.
