Courage to Care Day Campaign Competition 2024

We’re excited to kick off a special competition as part of this year’s Courage to Care Day Campaign! This competition invites all MOT Enthusiasts, schools, colleges, and organizations to participate in a meaningful and enjoyable way while supporting a worthy cause. The competition will run from 2 September – 7 October. But first, let’s get into what Courage to Care Day is all about.

About Courage to Care Day

Courage to Care Day embodies one of MOT’s core values: the Courage to Care. This value emphasizes the importance of showing care and respect to others and ourselves, providing “jet fuel” to be a light for someone, and including those who feel left out. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating the impact of caring for others and recognizing how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.

For 2024, MOT SA is focusing on a collection drive as part of the Courage to Care Day celebrations. We’ll be gathering bottle tops, bread tags, and bread bags, which will be recycled by the Sweethearts Foundation. In return, we will receive a standard wheelchair to support someone in need.

We encourage everyone to join us in this impactful initiative.

Competition Rules

How to Participate in the Competition

  1. Start Collecting: Each class is tasked with collecting bread bags, bottle tops, and bread tags. To keep track of your contributions, we recommend setting up a dedicated collection box for each type of item. This will help ensure that your efforts are organized and easily counted.
  2. Weigh and Record: At the end of the competition period, each class should weigh the collected items (bread bags, bottle tops, and bread tags). Be sure to record these weights accurately. This data will be crucial in determining the winner of the competition.
  3. Submit Your Results: Submit the total weights from each class to your MOT coordinator. The coordinator will then compile the results and submit them to MOT SA for final verification.
  4. Win Exciting Prizes: The class that accumulates the highest total weight of collected items in your school/college/organisation will be declared the winner. The winner will be announced at our Pay it Forward Celebration on 25 October 2024. Stay tuned via our socials for more details on the exciting prizes awaiting the winning class!

Why Your Participation Matters

By participating in this competition, you’re not only engaging in a fun and educational activity but also contributing to a noble cause. The items collected will be recycled by the Sweethearts Foundation, which uses them to provide wheelchairs to those in need. Your efforts will help ensure that more people can benefit from this valuable support. And that’s not all. Each school/college/organisation will also have the opportunity to nominate who will receive this wheelchair.

About Sweethearts Foundation

Sweethearts Foundation is dedicated to giving the gift of mobility to marginalized individuals by recycling bottle tops, bread tags, and bread bags. These items are sold to recyclers, and the proceeds are used to provide wheelchairs to those in need. Learn more about their impactful work here.
